Phase 2 of the C.W. Avery Family YMCA renovation project, which includes the expansion of the Wellness Center, is now underway. In addition to significantly increasing the square-footage of the Wellness Center, the Y will be adding new group exercise space and increasing the number of cardio and strength machines available to members. This new space will provide health seekers with limitless opportunities to train smarter and more effectively.
We appreciate your continued patience during the construction period and apologize for the inconvenience. For more information on our Wellness Center expansion, please visit our online headquarters.
To accompany its new swim lesson curriculum, the Y is happy to introduce it’s Swim Lesson Selector. Available online today, this tool is a must-try for parents who are interested in enrolling their children in YMCA swimming lessons.
By answering short “yes-or-no” questions—and in some cases, by watching a short video—the Swim Lesson Selector can help you quickly identify which swim stage is right for your child.
For our next Fab 50 Adventure, we’re spending an afternoon in Downtown Chicago to shop at two of the most iconic holiday shopping locations around. First, we will stop for lunch at the Walnut Room. Located within Macy’s, the Walnut Room is the first restaurant to open in a department store. After shopping at Macy’s, we will head to Water Tower Place, a one-of-a-kind mall on the Magnificent Mile with more than 100 stores.
Rate (includes lunch, gratuity and transportation)
$65 per person

This fall, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA will be introducing a fresh, new swim lesson curriculum, designed to enhance its tradition of keeping the community safe and secure around the water and instilling a healthy lifestyle.
Created by the YMCA of the USA and tested extensively by Y’s across the nation, this new curriculum accommodates varying abilities to help foster a sense of achievement as swimmers progress between clearly defined stages.
Through this approach, advanced swimmers flow more easily to higher levels while swimmers who need more instruction can learn at their own pace. This approach results in more confident swimmers and a newfound admiration for swimming that can last a lifetime.

Construction on the parking lot at the C.W. Avery Family YMCA is now underway. Projected to be completed later this summer, the lot will be expanded to include an additional 144 parking spaces.
Construction fencing was installed July 10 along the north end of the existing parking lot. On the morning of July 12, trucks began delivering dirt and other construction materials to the site. Signage and barricades have been posted.
To ensure the safety of all members and guests, we ask that you please slow down and use caution when entering the parking lot.
As a reminder, overflow parking will be available at Ira Jones Middle School (adjacent to the YMCA) when school is not in session.
Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during our renovation period.
