Everyday Heroes is an initiative by Shaw Media that honors those who selflessly donate their time and talents to help those in need or to better their community.

Nominated by the community members he’s served for so long, Maurice was named one of this year’s Everyday Heroes for his tireless commitment to providing quality programming for youth throughout Joliet.

Amazing Learning Experiences

waterpoloWater Polo (Ages 17 and Under)

Now offered at the Galowich and Smith Family YMCAs

A leader in aquatics for more than 100 years, the YMCA invites you to join it’s new Water Polo class! Held twice per week, this introductory class will help students improve their swimming ability and conditioning, while also teaching them basic water polo skills such as passing and shooting.

REQUIREMENTS
All participants must have passed the Minnow level of swimming lessons or be able to proficiently swim one length of the pool and tread water for two minutes without using their hands.

RATES
$70 for Full Members, $140 for Program Members

Let’s Play Ball!

softballRegister for the Y’s Adult Softball League

Dust off your bats and gloves because it’s time for another season of summer softball at the Y! Two adult leagues are available: A co-ed/church league and a men’s league.

Games will be played on weekday evenings. Members and non-members 18 or older are welcome to play. Two Full Members must be registered to be considered a Full Member team.

May 17-July 5
Tuesday evenings from 6-8 p.m.

Men’s Softball League
May 19-July 7
Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m.

Get ready for some madness! This month, the Smith Family YMCA is hosting two separate March Madness tournaments.

GRADES 3-4: ONE-DAY TOURNAMENT
Saturday, March 19 | 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Individual Rates:

  • $10 for Full Members
  • $20 for Program Members
  • $30 for Non-Members

Team Rates: 

  • $60 for Full Members
  • $120 for Program Members
  • $155 for Non-Members

GRADES 5-12: 4-WEEK TOURNAMENT
Saturdays: March 26-April 23

Teams in this four-week tournament will be divided by age groups. Teams will compete in two play-in games. Single elimination play will follow.

Individual Rates:

  • $20 for Full Members
  • $40 for Program Members
  • $60 for Non-Members

Team Rates: 

  • $120 for Full Members
  • $240 for Program Members
  • $275 for Non-Members
