POSITION SUMMARY:
Supports, organizes and implements high quality youth programming for the Childcare Department, including, but not limited to: Kid Zone Before & After School Program, Days Out of School Program, Summer Day Camp, and other programs as assigned. Serves as a member of the branch leadership team and actively participates in all assigned Program Cabinets and team meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages, directs and coordinates child care programs. Programs include, but are not limited to, summer day camp, Kid Zone Before & After School program, and Day Off School programs. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel (full-time, part-time and seasonal) and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Coordinates all monthly safety drills, gathers needed documentation and holds staff accountable for completion.
- Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Provides coverage for sites and/or programs on an as needed basis, adjusting scheduled as needed for program coverage.
- Orders supplies as needed to support curriculum, staff and HEPA needs. Coordinates meal and snack distribution and becomes trained by the Northern Illinois Food Bank in food distribution for both the SFSP and CACFP feeding programs.
- Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
- Leads childcare registration process and maintains proper records/department files.
- Organizes special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
- Collaborates with childcare cabinet to develop monthly calendar of curriculum and activities. Attends program cabinet meetings.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Compiles program statistics, monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program and performs regular audits of program sites to ensure quality program delivery.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent.
- One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.
- Required trainings within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
