Our Vision For The Future
Since opening our Wauponsee Street location, we have continued to grow not only our facility and program offerings, but also the number of people we serve each year in Grundy County. To continue to serve our community and offer the types of programs and spaces our neighbors desire, it is time to grow again.
What We’re Building
A new 60,000-square-foot YMCA and healthcare center adjacent to Morris Grade School featuring:
- An aquatics center featuring an eight-lane lap pool
- A state-of-the-art wellness center
- A gymnasium
- Group exercise studios
- Multi-purpose rooms and engaging youth play spaces
- A healthy eating kitchen
- Gathering and meeting space
- Outdoor spaces for summer camps and youth sports
Why It Matters
This new community center will:
- Offer a continuum of care in one location, blending prevention, wellness and rehabilitation services
- Create a welcoming and fully accessible environment for people of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds
- Create opportunities for families and adults to connect
- Provide quality programs and services that reduce risk factors for chronic diseases
- Provide a safe, positive environment for more youth and teens to build character and participate in a variety of programs
- Expand access to affordable health and wellness services for all residents living in Grundy County
- Enhance the recruitment climate for local businesses and industry
