POSITION SUMMARY:
Develop, organize, and implement high quality YMCA child care programs. Serves as a member of the branch leadership team and actively participates in all assigned program cabinet and team meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages, directs and coordinates childcare, family and senior social programs. Programs include, but are not limited to, before and after school, summer day camp, family nights, Fab 50, Kids Corner supervised playroom and special events. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops, manages, and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
- Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent, and community inquires and complaints in a timely manner.
- Coordinates all monthly safety drills, gathers needed documentation and holds staff accountable for completion.
- Provides coverage for sites and/or programs on an as needed basis, adjusting scheduled as needed for program coverage.
- Orders supplies as needed to support curriculum, staff and HEPA needs. Coordinates meal and snack distribution and becomes trained by the Northern Illinois Food Bank in food distribution for both the SFSP and CACFP feeding programs.
- Leads childcare registration process and maintains proper records/department files.
- Collaborates with childcare cabinet to develop monthly calendar of curriculum and activities. Attends program cabinet meetings.
- Provides direct support and leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
- Participate in staff meetings and/or related meetings.

- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Compiles program statistics, monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program and performs regular audits of program sites to ensure quality program delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent.
- One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.
- Required trainings within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
