DEVELOPING FUTURE LEADERS
Teen Achievers is a national academic/career development program for high school youth. Students receive inspiration and guidance in setting goals to graduate from high school, gain entry into college and ultimately achieve successful entry into a career of their choosing. The Greater Joliet Area YMCA’s Teen Achievers program helps teens to believe in themselves and improve self-esteem. It also focuses on character development, helping teens strengthen positive traits such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. These values will aid them in leading healthy, productive lives.
The Y’s Teen Achievers Program has four basic goals:
- Encourage youth to set and achieve high educational, professional and personal goals
- Help youth to develop their talents and leadership skills
- Create channels for Achievers to become involved in the community
- Acknowledge Achievers for their program accomplishments and recognize the adults that volunteer their time
