Morris YMCA Specialty Camps
Open to Grade 5-9
Each summer, the Morris YMCA teams up with the Grundy Area Vocational Center (GAVC) to offer a variety of specialty camps. Taught by GAVC instructors, these exciting camps are held on the GAVC campus located adjacent to Morris High School.

Police Academy Camp
June 10-13 • 9 a.m.-Noon
Criminal Justice Instructor Brent Dite leads this interactive camp that explores the field of public safety. Campers will learn about fingerprinting, working with K-9 officers, meet police officers, get up close and personal with squad car and take part in police training exercises.

Automotive Skills Camp
June 10-13 • 1-4 p.m.
This four-day camp covers the basics of automotive repair, giving campers the opportunity to build their skills through hands-on learning experiences.

Kids in the Kitchen Camp (Grades 5-8)
June 10-14 • 9 a.m.-Noon
Kids who are interesting in cooking and baking will love this camp. Campers not only learn about kitchen safety and sanitation, they learn how to make everything from fruit kabobs and whole grain granola to veggie roll-ups and cupcakes.

Computer & Graphic Design Camp
June 10-14 • 9 a.m.-Noon
This week-long computer camp covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Building a computer and installing an operating system
- Computer networking
- Photo and video editing
- Designing and printing custom T-shirts

CPR Skills Camp
Tuesday, June 11 • 1-4 p.m.
In this one-day camp, participants learn about the critical lifesaving skills of CPR and First Aid.

Agriculture Camp
June 24-28 • 9 a.m.-Noon
Learn all about the environment, growing food, and taking care of animals in this fun and interactive camp!
