AMAZING LEARNING EXPERIENCES
During the school year, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA partners with Joliet Public School District 86 to offer a FREE after school program for students at the district’s four junior high schools. Daily programming incorporates the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, and include a resource-rich curriculum that provides students with academic support, life skills education, recreational opportunities, mentorship, STEM, and service learning activities.

YMCA Teen REACH programs in Joliet Public School District 86 are made possible thanks to a Department of Human Services grant from the State of Illinois.
PROGRAM CURRICULUM
The YMCA’s character building campaign pledges to incorporate the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into all of its youth development programming. While attending the Y’s Teen REACH program, students will participate in weekly lessons and activities that focus on:
- Academic support
- Character development
- Life skills education
- Health, Wellness and Fitness
- Mentorship/Career Exploration
- Volunteer and service learning activities
- STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
The Y will be teaming up with the Afterschool for Children and Teens Now (ACT Now) Coalition to provide weekly STEM activities for students in the Teen REACH program throughout the school year.
