AMAZING LEARNING EXPERIENCES
The Y’s Aquatics Leadership Program allows tweens and teens (ages 10-14) to step inside the world of lifeguarding and learn lifesaving skills including first aid and CPR. Participants also get to experience real-life scenarios, work through team-building exercises and assist in teaching swim lessons.
TWO LEVELS AVAILABLE
Intro Class
First-time participants should register for the “Intro” program. To enroll in this class, participants must take a swim test and complete a one-page essay prior to the first day of class. For more information and to set up the swim test, please contact the Y. Intro participants will receive a Junior Lifeguard T-shirt and whistle after completing training halfway through the session.
Varsity Class
Returning participants (ages 12-14) should register for the “Varsity” program. At this level, participants will be asked to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours over the summer as a junior lifeguard and/or swim aide. Varsity participants will receive a Junior Lifeguard T-shirt and whistle that should be worn to all volunteer shifts.
